Disability Categories
As per state and federal statutes, to receive special education services, students must meet eligibility criteria in one (or more) of the following areas of special education impairment, and be determined in need of special education services:
- Autism
- Blind and Visually Impaired (formerly Visual Impairment)
- Deaf and Hard of Hearing
- Deafblind
- Emotional Behavioral Disability
- Intellectual Disabilities (formerly referred to as “Cognitive Disabilities)
- Orthopedic Impairment
- Other Health Impaired
- Significant Developmental Delay
- Speech & Language Impairment
- Specific Learning Disability
- Traumatic Brain Injury
